“Home is behind, the world ahead.” -J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings

This piece is meant to be a portrayal of high-traffic areas like Toronto’s Union Station during the end of the work day. Finding myself within such a busy setting, I reflected on how every person in the crowds was en route to somewhere different, which is quite reflective of each and every personal journey through life. This “transitory” aspect of the crowds shows the fleeting, ephemeral moment when they are all united for a brief moment in time, and reflects on what it means to be part of a community.
